Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Christoph Schilling

Christoph Schilling has long been associated with the term friction stir welding and the associated technology. As early as 1999, engineer Schilling was researching the joining process for aluminum workpieces — still relatively unknown in Germany at that time. As a member of international expert groups at the Helmholtz Center for Material Research Geesthacht, he successfully worked on optimizing the joining method, which is reflected in five patents.

After many years working as a managing partner at a company focusing on the industrial application of FSW, he founded his own company in 2011: RSS Schilling GmbH in Schwarzenbek.
